REVIEW #1

BLACK DEMONS // BENZOATE  Split 7"

I have been knowing the demons for some years now. Hailing from my own hometown, it was a pact of all the guitarist from the now-defunct Diskangkung, Urughai and Rahasia thrashing new direction. Apart from their previous interests in the past band, Black Demons riding a fast ride towards metal punk worships. The black side offer you 2 songs with the first track entitled Rock & Roll Gegen Nazis, which is a full throttle bash onto nazism through motorcharged beats with a somehow familiar metal punk riffs infused into the intensity of riding a fast paced frequencies. Would be a nice sing-a-long when playing live. The next song is an unplugged blues injected track which featured "Lady Demon" as duet singer. A fairly good acoustic with nice singing too. This is good with a glass of whiskey.

On the white side, there's Benzoate with a total of 4 songs. I've seen this band live a couple times and always loved their energetic set. This three pieces hardcore punk dudes really delivered good tracks of furious punk beats, like whenever you listen to early 80's hardcore punk that its very raw, simple and pure. The lyrics is simple dealing with surroundings. Their rage is felt through the angriness of the guitarist and bassist who both singing together. Its an all-go-no-slow chemistry between the band. I love the solo parts too. Its convenient in its part. If you dig something pure with no bullshits of complexities, this gonna be the right pick.

When I played this on my stereo player, I feel like a getting a horse, or at least a nice ride like the demon's to get through this. Its a hard ride with satan, you know.

Released by Basement Records, Malaysia with 2 different colors : Orange & Black

UPCOMING SHOWS ON MARCH!

The Wall is happy to announce that there are promising shows in line. Its been increasingly hectic schedule since early this year and it feels so fuckin alive. The sweat and adrenaline in the stage and moshpit were dope. All you gotta do is just, "Ah, fuck it...Go!"

Hardcore punk no joke!
Early March, at 12th, there will be a hardcore show organized by this cool guys from Windows & Attic and Meinerveilt. They have done a couple of shows before at The Wall and seems like the chemistry has taken it place. There are already plans for upcoming months. Heard that this IN MY EYES series is transcend into a bigger plan. Kudos to these exciting hardworking collectives.

I wouldn't have to elaborate on behalf each of this bands how they sounded like. Most of them are already getting into the radar of everyone. I might write something after the show. It would be fair I suppose.

Marco Ferrarese (author of Nazi Goreng)
talk on his latest book.
This show is also a short collaboration with Marco Ferrarese, the author of Nazi Goreng, who on his schedule of BOOK TOUR MARCH 2016 and wanted to join us in the show. The booktalk session is gonna take place in the middle of the show. So maybe its gonna be at early night. Marco is gonna talk about his latest book, which he wrote when he on toured with his homeboys metal punk band from Italy, The Nerd through South East Asia. He met most of the bands and the culture. After the tour finished, he continued working on the book. BANANA PUNK RAWK TRAILS is published by SIRD. Marco is going on tour for the booktalk in efforts of spreading the books himself. He loves to talk and share. You will be happy to share with him too. He will brings some books together. Bring extra bucks to get it there.

Punkrock dope for addicts
On the next day, 13th March, a punkrock show takes place. A show that happens occasionally and waited by many friends. NARCOLAPTIC  from Germany is on S.E.A tour and BACKSIDE 180 from Singapore is just on their second tour to Malaysia already. The rest of local supportings are mostly everyone's favourite pop-punk bands. Skaters are highly invited, mostly from the local homeboys. Its very rare to catch skater that listens to punkrock nowadays, at least in my town where the kids are rather happy to skate as mere sport (well, of course not all. Some are cool kids too!). No more fuckin skate and destroy or shits that makes you taste fear like a bubblegum. I hope they come to the show and enjoy the fucking adrenaline.

I, too, am excited counting days.

NOW WE TALK...

Hello, good people!

Welcome to The Wall new blog. I don't remember if we had any before this but documentation is crucial. This blog is an attempt to documented most of the thing we do at The Wall : shows, screening, workshops, etc because after years of existence, it is really a loss if no documentation being emphasize on. I realize how important it is to at least writing down the situation and keep it documented but due to my shitty laziness, it only happened to be just a trash talk. The guilty is mine. However, I don't owe any apology but to make it happen, I must.

As to speak properly for introduction, I should say that you probably already know what The Wall is. But I'm pretty sure most of you want to know what happened to The Wall a couple of months ago when the hall were possessed by great fire that destroyed the whole backline on the stage. It was a mysterious fire that started from the drums (it weird because no electricity for drumset) and get into everything else in a blink of an eye. The fire was so great but it only in an instant before its light broke up into heavy smoke that overwhelmed the whole building in a second. There were us in there (me and 2 friends) got freaked out and panic. We cannot go out through front door. Not long before we got choked by the smoke and desperately breathing for oxygen, we found out that the only way to escape is through the window and thats where we jumped after screaming for helps like we always watch in a film. It was a bloody hell of experience.

There were speculations about the mysterious fire but after discussing among ourselves, we decided not to take any serious action about it since we don't have any evidence. This news of tragedy has been spread widely and while we still think of how to get up from the mess, there were already hundreds of hands appeared to help us. There were great friends organizing benefit shows for us in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Russia, UK, Dubai, America and lots more I can't really remember properly rite now. So many friends helped us in their own way like putting up donations, selling merchs, donate equipments, cleaning up the smoky mess, etc.

3 months after the tragedy, all the solidarity efforts collected about 10K which was unexpectedly a large sum of money. With the given donations, we manage to buy a new set of complete backline. With all the thanks that will never be enough, we really indebted to everyone of you who keep supporting The Wall. The only way to repay this kindness is to stay active and keep making The Wall as a centre where everyone can share without prejudice. As to mention it again whole-heartedly, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED US SURVIVED THIS TRAGEDY. A VERY MUCH THANK YOU!

And now, let us hope and wish for all the greatness of maximizing rock & roll be with us all.

See you in the pit, boss!
